The purist non-conformist jaded sub-human terrorist

Greetings all.

It has been a while since there was a post on the site from myself or the other boys; what with my changing jobs, one of us with a new-born, and another who has had other stuff going on that I am not able to talk about. Having said that, WE ARE STILL HERE!

Today I wish to provide you all with an in-depth rant about how I am a purist with as many things as possible; one thing of particular mention is canon. Be it anime, sci-fi, video games, anything really, I do want it to structurally all fit together. One thing in particular recently (while I have been between jobs) has been the anime "Bleach". In order to understand my rant, allow me to provide you all with a little back-story:

Bleach is centred around a teenage boy called "Kurosaki Ichigo" (surname first, first name last; as is normal in japanese). Ichigo has always been able to see ghosts - something that no one else seems able to do. One day he saw a creature that he could only assume was a monster from the ghost realm (later revealed as "hollows" - the beings that shinigami are after) and it attacked him and another ghost. A woman dressed as a samurai of sorts (wielding a katana and dressed in warriors robes - later revealed as the official unniform of the "Shinigami"; the "Death Gods") known as Kuchiki Rukia saved the day and in the process transferred her Shinigami powers to Ichigo.

A long story ensues; telling the tale of how Ichigo must continue Rukia's work until she is taken back to "Soul Society" (another term for heaven, where the shinigami send the dead to live in peace) by another two shinigami - later revealed as Kuchiki Byakuya (Rukia's brother, the head of the noble Kuchiki family and captain of the 6th squad of the 13 Protection Squads of Soul Society), and Abarai Renji (Byakuya's subordinate and vice captain of 6th squad). At this point, Ichigo loses the powers he obtained from Rukia and is forced to obtain his own powers in order to save Rukia from a death sentence. Obviously this goes well because where would the story go without it?

But I digress. He travels to Soul Society with his friends Sado "Chad" Yasutora (a giant high school student who fights with his mighty fist), Inoue Orihime (a LARGE breasted teenage girl who uses her hair pins to summon little creatures with the ability to heal, create a shield, and provide a weak attack) and Ishida Uryuu (a boy who is a decendant of humans known as Quincy - who use bows formed of energy in order to destroy the hollow - and are enemies of the shinigami). When they get there, there is a lot of combat that ensues. The team are enlightened however to the 13 protection squads and their rankings. Each squad is made up of a Captain (who is uber powerful), a vice captain (As powerful as a captain in most cases, but its hard to explain), and many troops below them who are usually ranked into "seats" which are determined by their strength levels. While there are many many troops below the captain and vice captain class, these characters are largely (if not completely) ignored, all except for two characters, and the captains and vice captains are well known and are important plot points. This is where I come to my point.

In the 10th squad, there is a captain called Hitsugaya Toshirou - A boy of approximately 11 years of age. Toshirou's vice captain is Matrumoto Rangiku - A woman in her late 30s or maybe early 40s (they're never clear on her age) who is a total sloth, drinks a lot of sake and has the largest breasts of any female character in the entire show for around about 170 episodes - i am guessing this is to enable her to appear like a total whore. The gripe I have is that there is an abundance of fan art and videos made up of montages that involve these characters. Thats all well and good; I love a good bit of fan art and AMVs aplenty; however most of the fan art involving these two are usually done as if they both have a romantic connection and that they want to jump each other's bones.

This is where canon comes in. It is painfully obvious to anyone over the age of 16 that Toshirou is a little too young to be lusting over (comparitively) old women and Rangiku is too mature and not enough of a whore to go and fuck an 11 year old. Most people seem to base this fan art on the actions taken by Rangiku towards Toshirou ie. waving the sake bottle in front of his face while she's drunk; talking about her breasts; finding any way she can to embarass him; getting worried about him when he has been attacked (especially when injured); but none of these things strictly scream "I LOVE YOU AND I WANT TO BANG YOU" or is there something I have been missing all my life?

As canon dictates, Rangiku sees Toshirou as more of a little brother and treats him as such; however she has complete and total respect for him. Ichigo and Rukia have sexual magnetism, but then again, Inoue and Renji can be mixed in there as well - making a love... square... thing... but they don't need to make romance fan art about two characters that are more like family than lovers - and according to canon, they never would be lovers!

What is so hard to understand about that fact? The whole concept makes me angry and sick and fits into the same category as Neon Genesis: Evangelion fan art that involves Ikari Shinji and Ayanami Rei getting it on - IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN BECAUSE SHINJI IS A MESSED UP 14 YEAR OLD AND REI IS A MAN-MADE BODY WITH AN IMPLANTED SOUL! THAT SHOW IS MESSED UP ENOUGH WITHOUT THOSE TWO GETTING IT ON!

So here are some small words of advice for the kiddies:

I respect your artistic talents and without you there wouldn't be much to drag new people into shows such as bleach, however you need to pick some better subject matter. If you want to do romance, pick a relationship that may be possible. Do something obvious like Ichigo and Rukia, or something plausable like Renji and Rukia or Ichigo and Inoue. Toushiro and Rangiku would NEVER be lovers - no matter how much you want them to be.

/end rant.

Also, P.S - Toushiro has a totally awesome Bankai. Maybe you kids should get out there and make some videos based on that instead.
